About the festival

The Sing the North Summer Choral Festival is a week-long choral intensive for choristers culminating in a large-scale performance with a 100+-voice Festival Chorus, Chamber Choirs and orchestra in beautiful Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria, BC.

Now in our 6th year, we offer singers a thrilling week of fast-moving rehearsals, innovative choral skill-building sessions, intensive work with our feature composers, and social events set against the backdrop of one of the most picturesque cities in Canada.

Singers have the unprecedented opportunity to rehearse and perform under Canadian choral legend Howard Dyck, as well as a full team of world-class conductors, clinicians and soloists, including Daniel Taylor and Nancy Argenta, all led by our Artistic Director, Kathryn Whitney.

what are we singing?

This year’s Festival celebrates the joyful music of G. F. Handel, including the thrilling Dixit Dominus, the Utrecht Jubilate, and Zadok the Priest.

We are also singing music by the prolific 17th-century Venetian composer and singer Barbara Strozzi, known for her superb vocal writing.

Our 2026 STN Feature Composer is the acclaimed Vancouver-based composer, improviser and singer, Katerina Gimon, who will be with us during the festival.

How does it work?

Singers can join us as Full-time or Part-time choristers, or Observers.

Full-time choristers sing in the Festival Chorus, and Chamber Choirs, and attend workshops, choral skills sessions, bring & sing lunchtime concerts, and social events.

Part-time choristers sing in the Festival Chorus and are welcome at all social events.
