The STN Summer Choral Festival is a thrilling event for choral singers featuring a 100-voice festival chorus, chamber choirs, consort singing, choral skills workshops, social events, and more!

The Festival finishes with a public performance with orchestra in towering Christ Church Cathedral with world-leading soloists and orchestra, under the direction of our principal conductor, choral legend HOWARD DYCK.

About the festival

The Sing the North Summer Choral Festival is a week-long choral intensive for choristers culminating in a large-scale performance with a 100+-voice Festival Chorus, Chamber Choirs and orchestra in beautiful Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria, BC.

Now in our 7th year, we offer singers a thrilling week of fast-moving rehearsals, innovative choral skill-building sessions, intensive work with our feature composers, and social events set against the backdrop of one of the most picturesque cities in Canada. 

Singers have the unprecedented opportunity to rehearse and perform under Canadian choral legend Howard Dyck, as well as a full team of world-class conductors, clinicians and soloists, including Daniel Taylor and Nancy Argenta, all led by our Artistic Director, Kathryn Whitney.

what are we singing?

For our 2027 Festival, we have a wonderful array of music planned for choristers. Pieces will mix 17-th to 19-th century music with pieces by our Feature Composer, who will be announced soon.

How does it work?

Singers can join us as Full-time or Part-time choristers, or Observers.

Full-time choristers sing in the Festival Chorus, and Chamber Choirs, and attend workshops, choral skills sessions, bring & sing lunchtime concerts, and social events.

Part-time choristers sing in the Festival Chorus and are welcome at all social events.
